Just a very concerned citizen about the Great Lakes and the current situation with the current Line 5, which is old. Very worried about it leaking and ruining the Great Lakes. One near miss with a ships anchor was bad enough. The oil is not used by our people in Michigan. They need to figure out a way to run it through Canada not under the Great Lakes. We're lucky there hasn't been a bigger spill. Luck is running out, and the idea of a tunnel is not the answer, Stay away from the Great Lakes!!!!

As a citizen of northern Michigan, I am 100% against anything that puts the cleanliness and purity of the Great Lakes at any of risk. Why should I, as a citizen of Michigan pay for and maintain a tunnel that will only benefit Enbridge and put the most beautiful parts of our great lakes at risk. If this is constructed the citizens of Michigan will be paying for maintenance forever. I see no reason why Enbridge can not keep the pipeline in Canada and cross at a less sensitive area where the water is shallow, such as the Detroit River, etc..
An accident in this pipeline could destroy northern Michigan tourism and contaminate our drinking water. The proposed tunnel and existing pipeline must be shut down now.

Please deny any permit for a tunnel or upgrade to any pipeline through the Straits of Mackinac. Oil spills have damaged too much land already, Enbridge has a miserable track record (Kalamazoo River, etc.), and this movement of sludge does not benefit either Michigan or the United States in general. Thank you.
