I am all in favor of moving forward with this project as soon as possible. The current pipeline needs to be replaced and this project is an excellent and safe way to do just that. Hurry up.

I have been trained as a citizen scientist for water and active as a water monitor for 23-years. With my team, I have not missed a month of monitoring season in that time. I am very concerned that new construction of the Line 5 Tunnel will bring untold negative effects to the Great Lakes. There must be other ways to transport fossil fuels into America. An EIS must consider costs and effects to our total nation.

Hello,
I do emphatically do not support line 5. As a lifelong Michigan resident and someone who has chose to stay in Michigan despite career opportunities elsewhere, I am deeply concerned about the potential damage that line 5 could cause. Just this week we have seen major spills across the United States and even here in Michigan. Water will continue to be and become an even more precious resource. We should not be risking one of Michigan's most special assets for short term economic gain, particularly gain that would have little impact on Michigan residents. Please terminate line 5.
Sincerely,
Gabrielle Popp

I believe that line 5 is a potential hazard to the Great lakes, and the ecosystem within and around the lakes, including the residents that drink the water. This concern comes because we have seen that Enbridge does not have a good record on safety or communicating with the public a.s.a.p when there is a leak in one of their lines! I also believe that Line 5 is a Huge waste of money and resources considering that we are moving away from fossil fuels, as we need to do to slow global warming down.

Build the tunnel. Shutting down line 5 is not the best solution. Gas & propane prices will skyrocket, spills will still be a concern from ships. The pipeline would be a safer and cheaper alternative to any other transportation method.

Regarding Line 5: Why do we take a chance on something that is so valuable to everyone’s well being? The “fresh water” Great Lakes is a valuable resource to ALL. Don’t risk it, nothing last forever.
Could we truck the oil resource to a destination point in UP for storage?

I am firmly AGAINST Line 5. As a life-long resident of Northern Michigan, I am afraid of what the consequences of an oil line under the Straits would be. It is not a matter of IF there is an oil spill, but WHEN. As we have seen, oil spills have a devastating effect on our natural areas and ecosystems. For a place that is dependent on tourism (Mackinac City, Mackinac Island, St Ignace), an oil spill could also affect our local economies by deterring tourists. We are know for crisp, blue waters and some of the freshest air in the country. Any money that would go to this project should be redirected to renewable energies to help better our communities and keep our area clean.

Installing the pipeline in a tunnel is the best way to protect the environment during future use. Do not shut down the line. Pipelines are much safer than trucks, trains or ships. Boring a tunnel in bedrock under the water has minimal environmental impact. Do it!!

I feel the pipeline has safety issues and only see this new tunnel to be a fantastic way to assure the safety and strength of the future of fuels through the Great Lakes. I realize there is a trend for non fossil fuels but this will assure the elimination of pollution. This cannot be a political decision. Do whats right

I am more concerned about keeping oil spills out of the great lakes than lining the pockets of the oil company. Line5 is a poor use of resources. Investments should be made in green energy and employing Michiganders in that field
