The new option brought to the table for moving Line 5 is more dangerous then the tunnel. The Lakes are our life here and thousands of people jobs. This is the same company who had the spill in and around teh Kalamazoo River. It's also the same company who tried to cover the oil from that spill, instead of taking the oil away. They don't care about the environmental issues and risks from any of the plans to keep the oil flowing in dangeous ways includiing your newest idea.

Please stop letting a Canadian company ruin our water, Lakes and tourist economy. They can not be trusted and they don't care.

Thank you,

No tunnel, no reroute, no new fossil fuel infrastructure. I'm writing to comment on the potential devastation from allowing Enbridge's Line 5 crossing Wisconsin and Michigan. Horizontal Directional Drilling is a false solution . The reroute around the Bad River land is still upstream of their needed territory. The possibility of a methane explosion in the Mackinaw straight would be horrific. Enbridge has already been responsible for millions of gallons of oil leaking in our precious midwest waters. Water quality should be our priority. Decommission Line 5. Alternative energy is cheaper and creates good jobs.

The supplemental Environmental Impact Statement by Enbridge and the Army Corps of Engineers, is just another attempt to force through a tunnel that never should be built. Enbridge cannot safely perform HDD drilling in the Straits of Mackinac, as their track record of frac-outs in their Line 3 expansion project demonstrates. This project still forces Michigan taxpayers to carry all the risk for a foreign corporation.

I wish to state loudly my opposition to the supplemental EIS process for the Line 5 replacement project. I urge you to listen the people who will be
seriously impacted—including tribal members.

I understand USACE has submitted a Supplemental Draft EIS to evaluate an alternative to a new Line 5 pipeline. This is a bait and switch by Enbridge and the Army Corps of Engineers, after focusing on the tunnel for years. Enbridge cannot safely perform HDD drilling in the Straits of Mackinac, their track record of frac-outs in their Line 3 expansion project demonstrates this.
This project still forces Michigan taxpayers to carry all the risk for a foreign corporation that also no benefit for us.
I do not support this alternative or a new pipeline. The old one needs to be shut down immediately and Canada can run a pipeline through their own land if they need it so badly.
Do not approve this. Thank you. Shawn Hall

I am against the supplemental Environmental Impact Statement recently added to the Enbridge Line 5 replacement project under the Straits of Mackinac. This supplemental EIS under question today is a bait and switch by Enbridge and the Army Corps of Engineers, after focusing on the tunnel for years. It's just another attempt to move the goalposts on this ill-conceived project, keeping the current environmentally dangerous pipeline pumping oil under the straits. Enbridge cannot safely perform HDD drilling in the Straits of Mackinac, their track record of frac-outs on their Line 3 expansion project demonstrates this. This project still forces Michigan taxpayers to carry all the risk for a foreign corporation.

I cannot believe yet another barrier has been added by the US Army Corps of Engineers. There have been years of discussion about this incredibly dangerous project which should have been stopped long ago/ We are living on borrowed time and we don't need people holding back this project any longer. It is time to stop it--this has been the worse of government interference in a project that is critical to several states. Stop the Line 3 expansion as soon as possible. We are incensed at the lack of real thoughtful consideration of this critical project. Elsa and Walter Verderber

As a citizen of Michigan, I would like the Army Corps of Engineers to reject this supplemental draft EIS from Enbridge. There should be no tunnel, pipeline or horizontally drilled hole carrying petroleum products under or through the Straits of Mackinaw. No matter what the technology, any human project has many risks of failure and only one failure is necessary to permanently contaminate the Great Lakes and the land along the Straits. Fresh water is rare and getting rarer in the world; it is a resource beyond price as is it essential for life itself. Allowing a foreign company to risk our lakes for profit is abhorrent.
The UP Energy Task Force and others have shown many alternatives for energy that don't require a pipeline through the Straits, or petroleum products at all. Please reject this and any other alternatives from Enbridge, a company that has shown blatant disregard for regulations and safety for years.

I would like to voice my opposition to the the Line 5 replacement project. Regarding the supplemental EIS focused on an HDD (horizontal directional drilling) project in the straits as well as the EIS for the tunnel project:

This is a bait and switch by Enbridge and the Army Corps of Engineers, after focusing on the tunnel for years.

Enbridge cannot safely perform HDD drilling in the Straits of Mackinac, their track record of frac-outs in their Line 3 expansion project demonstrates this.

This project still forces Michigan taxpayers to carry all the risk for a foreign corporation.

Thank you for the opportunity to comment.
