I oppose this project for the following reasons:

This is a bait and switch by Enbridge and the Army Corps of Engineers, after focusing on the tunnel for years.
Enbridge cannot safely perform HDD drilling in the Straits of Mackinac, their track record of frac-outs in their Line 3 expansion project demonstrates this.
This project still forces Michigan taxpayers to carry all the risk for a foreign corporation.

I have been helping protect the environment via online activism for decades. I think it would be in everyone's best interest to invest in clean energy re: solar and wind. Resorting to fossil fuels is not only bad for the environment but for the health of everyone (and everything). I believe in environmental sustainability as the key to not only curb climate change but to create a healthy lifestyle not just for people and the planet but the Great Lakes for future generations to see and experience. Thank you for your time and understanding. Together we can make a huge difference for the planet.

NO to Line 5.
YES to protecting water, environment, ecological well-being.
NO to giving Enbridge authority for building a tunnel or HDD drilling.
Yes to the citizens of MI and all other life forms.
Protect our water at all costs! Enbridge has had its day and enough is enough. I'm sick and tired of business having the priority over life and well-being of citizens because they need to make a profit. The demand for the oil Line 5 provides has dwindled. There are other safer ways to provide oil to Enbridge limited market base which won't cause harm and hardship to the citizens of Michigan.
The easement has expired.
The drilling under water is an extremely high risk.
The water in the Straits of Mackinaw is precious territory where all means of protection should be provided including the removal of Line 5.
NO TUNNEL, NO HDD, NO LINE 5.

I oppose horizontal drilling in the updated EIS.
Enbridge has a horrible past record of causing much damage with such drilling. And why should Michiganders bear all the risks of untested engineering, especially for a Canadian company, and for no benefit for them?
Shut down line 5. It's well past it's planned lifetime. It's not needed.

The Line 5 tunnel does not belong anywhere near the straits of Mackinac. They have a terrible track record in regards to oil spills and any oil in the straits would be devastating to all -- animals, birds, humans and environment. The oil IS NOT NEEDED by anyone in Michigan. There are numerous reports indicating that so it is not worth the risk to our area. As the Army Corps of Engineers you have a duty to do what is right and safe and smart for the environment you are reviewing. Please stop Enbridge right now!

I am opposed to the drilling of water in the Straits of Mackinac in all forms. This Water is used as drinking water to millions who live here in Michigan as well as wildlife. Please vote to reject this idea as it can hurt so many people who are currently alive and our future generations yet to be born. Embridge must be denied this option.

This revised plan to install a pipeline under the Great Lakes is outrageous! We need further analysis of its reliability and safety. In my view it is a threat to a vast water resource, and that threat is the last thing we need! We should be thinking of ways to eliminate the need for fossil fuels, NOT planning for a way to develop infrastructure that helps to continue the use of a resource that is poisoning our environment. Please protect our water and our environment, and help us make the transition to renewable, environmentally safe sources of energy. Sometime soon, we must END FOSSIL FUELS or our atmosphere and our very lives are at risk.

This is a dangerous proposition. The drilling is iffy and the costs are directed to the people.

Maybe this should be looked at again before work begins
