I do not support additional infrastructure to move petroleum products across our state and through our precious public waters. The risk to this invaluable resource is unacceptable and I believe protecting our water quality and availability is the highest priority. If Canada wants to continue to move this product, they can build a line on their own land. Climate collapse looms . Continued investments in the fossil fuel industry is foolish, at best, suicidal at worst.

Enbridge cannot safely perform drilling in the straits of Mackinac. This is demonstrated in the history of frac-outs in the line 3 expansion project.
Work in the Great Lakes deeply concerns the people of Michigan and the United States, and our inalienable rights to clean water, a safe environment, and ecological protections for ourselves and our progeny. I reject this action because it is rushed and quickly switched without giving proper time for organizations and individuals to fully understand the change and react accordingly.
Finally, this project still forces Michigan taxpayers to fund a project by a foreign company, placing risk on the taxpayer.

As a proud Michigander I’m commenting my immense objection against the presence of line 5 and the devastating impact it would have on Michigan’s beautiful landscape and animals. Protecting the great lakes is vital to keeping our citizens and communities healthy.

we need to shut down line 5 pipeline and not allow enbridge to build another. an oil spill in the straits of mackinaw will cause extreme detriment to the largest source of fresh water in the world. an oil spill here will cause worldwide harm for generations to come

THIS IS A BAIT AND SWITCH BY ENBRIDGE AND THE ARMY CORPS OF ENGINEERS.
ENBRIDGE CANNOT SAFELY PERFORM HDD DRILLING IN THE STRAITS OF MACKINAC. THEIR TRACK RECORD OF FRAG-OUTS IN THEIR LINE 3
EXPANSION PROJECT DEMONSTRATES THIS.
THIS PROJECT FORCES MICHIGAN TAXPAYERS TO CARRY ALL THE RISK FOR A FOREIGN CORPORATION.
THE POSSIBILITY OF GREAT DAMAGE TO AN IMPORTANT ECOSYSTEM THAT MANY LIVES RELY ON FOR THE SAKE OF PRIVATE PROFIT IS UNACCEPTABLE.

I strongly support shutting down line 5.

It has exceeded its life expectancy and is a major liability to the straits and the wetlands it travels through that feed the Great Lakes.

The Line 5 Tunnel is a terrible idea. Enbridge has a history of leaks and spills, the oil isn't even going to US uses, and continued use of fossil fuels contributes to climate change, THE crisis of our generation. The Great Lakes are hugely important for transportation, fresh water usage, fishing, and tourism/recreation, and an oil spill here would be catastrophic for years to come. Putting the line in a tunnel is not a solution: mistakes happen. The only prudent course is to close line 5 NOW, and never build the tunnel.

It is our duty to our state and our citizens to uphold our Michigan’s beauty and maintain the status and safety of our wildlife and ecosystems.
I, along with various of my peers, condemn Enbridge’s proposition to build a new oil pipeline through the Straights of Mackinac, as it poses multiple problems to the environment and community who live there.

No line 5 in the Straits.
The pipeline is well over its safe usable age limit.

Line 5 is a threat to the entire Great Lakes region. Enbridge needs to come up with an alternative that does not include a pipeline under water nor near the watershed.
