This project is a bait and switch by Enbridge and the army core of engineers after focusing on the tunnel for years.

Enbridge cannot safely perform HDD drilling in the straits of Mackinaw. Their track record in their line 3 expansion project demonstrates this.

This project still forces Michigan taxpayers to carry all risk for a foreign corporation.

To whom it may concern,
I am a retired RN and have lived on Lake Huron since 1990. I am very worried about this pipeline going thru Lake Huron and Lake Michigan. The environment for the people, fish, vegetation, animals will all be affected and destroyed. This is unnecessary for our energy requirements especially since it could ruin so much. People rely on our lakes for water, income, life, pleasure and tourism. This is what we need to focus on.
There is no reason to put so much in jeopardy when the pipeline could avoid the lakes. The dirty oil could be trucked if necessary or we could and should ramp up renewables and clean energy. From what I understand this pipeline will cost us a ton and benefit Canada and big oil. The people who live here will be the ones to foot the bill and suffer any consequences that will occur.
I just can’t believe how short sighted this horrible pipeline is. We can’t get back what we lose and destroy all for money. We need to protect our planet , it is our only home.
Let’s get together and take care of our beautiful Great Lakes.
Sincerely,
Lori Bonifas

It our responsibility as People who live in the Great Lakes to protect the water. This lakes sit at the heart of our nation. Filled with the precious resource of fresh water. All our creeks, streams, lakes and rivers flow into the Great Lake Basin. From it flows, trade, travel, food, and weather that in turn enriches all our lives. To put the quality of our water in jeopardy for something as toxic as oil is criminal. We do not owe our lives and well being to make it easier for a foreign company to transport an dying fossil fuel through the Straits of Mackinaw. The Might Mac bridge spans a vulnerable point where 3 lakes merge. A disaster here will imperail all of Michigan coastline as well as our neighbors in the States and in Canda. Do not sell our our history and our future. Fight to protect this wonder of the natural world and how it influences each of Michigan's inhabitants.

We are opposed to the new line 5 construction proposal. Our concern is related to the environmental impact and possible damage resulting from the proposed construction. Enbridge has not shown environmental reliability as witnessed by the past 2010 oil spill in the Kalamazoo River that resulted in an environmental disaster. Such as occurence in the Straights would be far more devastating.

We the people and numerous organizations and environment groups have diligently provided comment regarding line 5 in the Straits of Mackinaw. You have the information, you know the risks; No oil inthe Precious Great Lakes. Enbridge has a proven track record of oil spills, problems in communication, and diversions. Just stand up for our waters! Money can't fix the damage to our earth. No to Enbridge, with all the money they have, they just keep on hanging on. Wasting our resources, costing taxpayer dollars to hear another proposal.

I do not support the proposal that would create an 80’ wide 4 mile long clear cut through beautiful wooded recreation land in the Mackinaw area. The Headlands, May Woods and French Farm trails would be unusable for years and it would take a decade or more to be returned to its natural habitat and beauty once the pipe is removed.
