You must stop trying to install Line 5! ALL oil pipelines leak; it’s a matter of WHEN, not IF. This means that this project will contaminate and poison the water that everyone on the Great Lakes uses to DRINK. Freshwater is NOT something to take for granted! We all die without it! The Great Lakes are one of the largest deposits of freshwater on the planet. WHY would you jeopardize that? Not only is oil an obsolete and destructive energy source, we get plenty from other places. The energy emergency is not true. We NEED fresh water. We DON’T need another oil pipeline! You need to prioritize PEOPLE over corporations. Preventing the poisoning of the water for millions of people should be your priority, not an oil pipeline we don’t need!!!

An oil spill in the Great Lakes would be catastrophic for drinking water, wildlife, and Michigan’s economy. More than 1.3 million jobs, equating to $82 billion in wages, are directly tied to the Great Lakes.

Shut Down Line Five. No tunnel will be needed.

The Line 5 tunnel project jeopardizes the the safety of the lives of the workers who woudl construct, the lives of the citizens nearby, includig indigenous tribes who have not been consulted and the healthy life of the Great Lakes. It can NOT go through.

An oil spill in the Great Lakes would be catastrophic for drinking water, wildlife, and Michigan’s economy. More than 1.3 million jobs, equating to $82 billion in wages, are directly tied to the Great Lakes. Tourism and trade would be affected. All the great lakes are tied together ecologically, so much more than just the straights are in jeopardy.

There is not an “energy emergency” to justify fast -tracking this potentially dangerous project that ahs not had a risk assessment done for it.
Approving this tunnel locks us into decades of fossil fuel dependency, exacerbating the climate and public health crises; it must be thoroughly assessed for its greenhouse gas emissions and health impacts before proceeding. Our future is at risk.

Tribal nations and Indigenous communities have not been meaningfully consulted. Their rights, treaties, and voices must be honored.

Many tunnel experts who have reviewed Enbridge’s plans share concerns for the logistics of placing a tunnel under the lakebed, considering it to be complicated, dangerous, and technically challenging. Experts also share concerns for the workers who are subjected to the dangerous pipeline construction and operations.
Do NOT override public safety and environmental protections of the whole for political and economic gains of a few..
Citizens have been opposing this pipeline project for years, don’t fast track it now.

Protect our water by not allowing the pipe line. Clean, unpolluted water is precious. Spillage of oil and gas cannot be completely removed!

This project is not necessary. Enbridge is a Canadian company moving Canadian oil through Michigan as a shortcut to Canadian facilities. This was a bad decision made in the 1950s, and should not be continued. Enbridge needs to move their oil thru Canada, and eliminate the shortcut thru Michigan. I lived thru the Line 6 break and spill in southern Michigan and as a result Enbridge should not be trusted to build and maintain this proposed pipeline or the existing Line 5.

This regards Enbridge’s proposed Line 5 pipeline. USACE will lose what credibility you still have if you let Donarl Trump & company push you into approving what clearly must be rejected. Treaty rights are clear, and the science on the climate and other effects of burning yet more oil have been known for decades. I believe there is no point in rehashing that here. The question is: Do you have the courage to buck those presently exerting power who are driving the gutting of what makes America great; that is, the promise (if not the reality) of real democracy. The push for approval comes from the endlessly greedy who in the last decades have manipulated law and public opinion to steal (under color of law and otherwise) even more of the wealth that should largely be the inheritance of us all. Do the right thing!

We need to protect our Great Lakes against a potential leak.
Fresh water is becoming more important as the effects of climate change occur.
I don’t know how we can trust Embridge with their poor track record.
Please do not approve the line 5 tunnel.

I disagree with the construction of the Line 5 pipeline in general for various reasons but mostly water quality and possible oil spills. The great lakes is the largest supply of fresh water in the world and if we damage this ecosystem that is something yoy can’t get back. The idea is not to have a spill prevention problem if one occurs, it us nor to have one at all. We know that the waters that have suffered major spills have not and will not fully recover even with all of the remediation plans. I used to live downstate in Michigan on the St. Clair River on Harsens Island and we saw what could happen when there were spills frim the Canadian plants. We relocated in Cheboygan MI because of the clean water and ecosystem and would hate to see anything damage it. We are also very concerned about all of he private wells and the aquafirs that could be harmed. Please take this into consideration when making you’re recommendations and help us to save our precious resource before it’s damaged. Thank you!
