I urge you to pause all approvals related to line 5 until a full environmental review is completed—including assessments of climate impacts, Indigenous rights, and public health. Save my Lake Michigan!

The evidence and argument for denying Enbridge's construction of Line 5 clearly outweighs the benefits of constructing it:
- Massive risk to the Great Lakes and 90% of the U.S. supply of fresh water
- Enbridge has a history of failed projects that led to environmental catastrophes.
- Enbridge lacks a valid easement for operating under its lakes and waterways, violating the state’s public trust doctrine

When it comes to the Line 5 Tunnel, please place the health and safety of the environment and its people as the highest priority, above political motivations and pressure. The Line 5 Tunnel project as proposed is technically challenging and would require a thoughtful and comprehensive risk assessment. An oil spill in the Great Lakes would be devastating and the consequences would be far reaching and long lasting. Our fresh water sources need to remain clean and unharmed. Additionally, regional Native communities have not been consulted and have not endorsed this plan.
Moving forward with the rushed Line 5 Tunnel project imperils us all. A healthy future in Michigan, in America, depends on protecting and preserving our fresh water ecosystem.

I am not an environmental or public energy expert, but with the Climate Crisis on our hands and our state’s dedication to eliminating the use of fossil fuels as a means of energy production, this pipeline is the last thing we should be doing. Invest the USACE’s time and effort into building public transit projects to lower public energy usage or help construct new generation nuclear plants for dependable energy generation.

I am writing to you as a retired physics and chemistry teacher. The great lakes are one of the few large fresh water sources left on the globe. Protecting the quality of that water should be paramount. In an age where we are working on curtailing use of fossil fuels protection of our fresh water has a higher priority than moving fossil fuels.

It seems rather foolish to me that Enbridge wants to fast track line 5, while knowing that within at least 50 years, there will be no more fossil fuel fuels to extract from the Earth. Even British Petroleum admits this. No one wants this. Find a new source of energy. Just stop this petroleum nonsense before they it us all.
How ironic. The dinosaurs got wiped out by a massive extinction event and now humans seem utterly bent upon destroying their own environment using the compressed, oily remains of those very same creatures that once roamed this earth unfettered. Humans are just dumb, greedy and ignorant.

I favor the line five tunnel. The reliable supply of energy to the residents of michigan is absolutely essential. The risks of not completing this in terms of human hardship far outweigh the overstated potential environmental hazards.

Please shut down Pipeline 5. We need other side of energy and but only does this further or reliance in oil but it ensures a huge disruption to the ecology of our lakes (an oil spill is inevitable). Please shut down Pipeline 5!!!!

Clean air, clean water are rights of all the children and the biggest legacy we can leave them. When the government emphasis on finantial gains, it is a great loss to those that cannot speak - our fellow creatures that have their homes in the habitat that is about t be destroyed.
